Marcus Aurelius
Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher · 121–180
Marcus Aurelius ruled as Roman emperor from 161 to 180 and is closely associated with Stoic philosophy. The reflections now known as Meditations were written for his own guidance rather than for publication, returning repeatedly to duty, judgment, mortality, self-command and the distinction between what is and is not under our control.
